The New Mutants Review: Delays, delays, delays, they Finally release New Mutants!

The Hit:

It's been such a long time not being able to go out and see a movie on the big screen. New Mutants has been delayed so many times even before this pandemic that I didn't mind checking something out. For the time being and hopefully no more closures, I'm happy the option of going out and seeing a movie is available again!

Cast: Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joe, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga

Pros: New Mutants is solely what the title entails, new mutants with powers we haven't seen before unless you've read these particular comics based on these characters which I have not. Some of these new abilities were pretty cool and the visual effects were good. Actors did a great job with the story they had to work with. Mentions of the X-Men got me excited but bummed at the same time none made an appearance.

Cons: I don't want to hate on this flick but after so many delays, you can see throughout the film why it didn't have that spark. I think it originally was going to be Rated R but after Disney bought Fox they had to scale it back for a lower rating and by doing so had to make some changes I felt hurt the movie more than helped. The Narrative felt rushed and the ending was so abrupt I could only imagine how much they cut out and instead of having a theatrical release they should have released the movie over Disney plus.

After so many months without going to the theatre, I was happy regardless of how the movie itself was. I was still entertained and maybe you will too but I know this is one flick I don't see myself watching again.

Key Info: Rated PG-13. Genres: Action, Horror, Sci-Fi

The Verdict:
YELLOW LIGHT (Proceed with Caution)
