I usually don't see too many "chick flicks" but now and then I give a couple a chance. This time around our main actress is the queen herself, from Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke and I am a huge fan of so many actors from that legendary T.V series that I couldn't pass this up, and I'm glad I didn't.
Cast: Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Emma Thompson
Pros: I've seen a couple of hallmark movies here and there and most are very cheesy and predictable but sometimes some are pretty good. This is one of those movies that are in the good range but great enough to make it in theaters. Sure there is a couple of cheesy moments but with very well known actors from top-notch T.V. shows and movies, it made this enjoyable to watch with little to no cringe moments! Speaking about actors, Emilia Clarke is such a wonderful actress and steals the show in every scene she's in. Although she played a more serious role in G.O.T, she is more herself, such as cheery, funny and peppy in this holiday movie. Now that I think about it, she almost showed the same energy when she played in 'Me Before you', also worth checking out if you're a big fan of hers. The story hit the feels and that's what these movies are supposed to do, you see someone down in the dumps and with the help of a certain someone, Henry Golding's character you see what Christmas is all about. Michelle and Emma also brought in some comedy into the mix and really helped to balance out the film. That ending didn't leave me in tears, but for you ladies who plan on seeing this, bring some tissues.
Cons: It's a typical Christmas movie about finding something during this holiday season that makes a negative situation into a positive one. So many films have done this trope but what else can they do involving the spirit of Christmas time?. Around midway into the movie I figured out how it was going to end, but instead of getting annoyed or disappointed I still enjoyed it.
This movie is so much better than any hallmark movie so if you're significant other is hesitant to see it, the acting helps out because Last Christmas has a great line up. Bring some tissues and enjoy this movie to kick off the holiday season!
