Blockers Review: Hilarious moments but nothing we haven't seen before

The Hit:

Blockers is a comedy where three parents try to stop a pact in which their daughters made to have sex on prom night. Along the way, we get to see a lot of things that make you cringe and laugh at the same time.

Cast:  Leslie Mann, John Cena, Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan, Gideon Adlon, Miles Robbins, Graham Phillips, Jimmy Bellinger

Pros: The three parents were awesome trying to foil their kids' plans and the actors who played them had great chemistry. Leslie Mann is a natural in comedy so no worries there, and Ike as well but John Cena had me a little skeptical. I think he was the best out of all three in the majority of the film. He's a big guy and doesn't wear the pants in the relationship so you can see how that can go, he was hilarious. The three girls are probably best friends outside of the movie because they never fell out of tune with each other and that's a very great thing to have especially in a comedy. I laughed with tears rolling down my cheeks about 4 or 5 times because some scenes were great! Besides the jokes, it gets real in some scenes and really made this film more for parents, who will probably get more of a chuckle watching this flick and mature adults.

Cons: They left some funny parts out of the trailers and they were smart by doing that but some you saw coming and that wasn't as funny. I felt like some scenes were forced and made you want to react in a way to laugh and although after the scene some worked, other scenes not so much.

I had a great time watching Blockers but didn't feel a burning passion towards the entirety of the movie because I felt like I've seen this type of film before. It was still a good laugh and I'm sure you'll still have fun!

The Verdict:
YELLOW LIGHT (Proceed With Caution)
